1. Isaiah 11

1 A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse; from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.  2 The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him--the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding, the Spirit of counsel and of power, the Spirit of knowledge and of the fear of the LORD--3 and he will delight in the fear of the LORD. He will not judge by what he sees with his eyes, or decide by what he hears with his ears; 4 but with righteousness he will judge the needy, with justice he will give decisions for the poor of the earth.  He will strike the earth with the rod of his mouth; with the breath of his lips he will slay the  wicked. 5 Righteousness will be his belt and faithfulness the sash around his waist.  6 The wolf will live with the lamb, the leopard will lie down with the goat, the calf and the lion and the yearling  together; and a little child will lead them. 7  The cow will feed with the bear, their young will lie down together, and the lion will eat straw like the ox.  8 The infant will play near the hole of the cobra, and the young child put his hand into the viper's nest.  9 They will neither harm nor destroy on all my holy mountain, for the earth will be full of the knowledge of the LORD as the waters cover the sea. 10 In that day the Root of Jesse will stand as a banner for the peoples; the nations will rally to him, and his place of rest will be glorious. 11 In that day the Lord will reach out his hand a second time to reclaim the remnant that is left of his people from Assyria, from Lower Egypt, from Upper Egypt,  from Cush,  from Elam, from Babylonia,  from Hamath and from the islands of the sea. 12 He will raise a banner for the nations and gather the exiles of Israel; he will assemble the scattered people of Judah from the four quarters of the earth. 13 Ephraim's jealousy will vanish, and Judah's enemies  will be cut off; Ephraim will not be jealous of Judah, nor Judah hostile toward Ephraim.  14 They will swoop down on the slopes of Philistia to the west; together they will plunder the people to the east.  They will lay hands on Edom and Moab, and the Ammonites will be subject to them.  15 The LORD will dry up the gulf of the Egyptian sea; with a scorching wind he will sweep his hand over the Euphrates River.  He will break it up into seven streams so that men can cross over in sandals.  16 There will be a highway for the remnant of his people that is left from Assyria, as there was for Israel when they came up from Egypt.

2. Jeremiah 33:14-22

14 "`The days are coming,' declares the LORD, `when I will fulfill the gracious promise I made to the house of Israel and to the house of Judah. 15 "`In those days and at that time I will make a righteous Branch sprout from David's line; he will do what is just and right in the land. 16 In those days Judah will be saved and Jerusalem will live in safety. This is the name by which it will be called:  The LORD Our Righteousness.'  17 For this is what the LORD says: `David will never fail to have a man to sit on the throne of the house of Israel, 18 nor will the priests, who are Levites, ever fail to have a man to stand before me continually to offer burnt offerings, to burn grain offerings and to present sacrifices.'" 19 The word of the LORD came to Jeremiah:  20 "This is what the LORD says: `If you can break my covenant with the day and my covenant with the night, so that day and night no longer come at their appointed time,  21 then my covenant with David my servant--and my covenant with the Levites who are priests ministering before me--can be broken and David will no longer have a descendant to reign on his throne.  22 I will make the descendants of David my servant and the Levites who minister before me as countless as the stars of the sky and as measureless as the sand on the seashore.'"

3. Amos 9:14-15

14 I will bring back my exiled people Israel; they will rebuild the ruined cities and live in them.  They will plant vineyards and drink their wine; they will make gardens and eat their fruit. 15 I will plant Israel in their own land, never again to be uprooted from the land I have given them," says  the LORD your God.

4. Jeremiah 31:31-34

31 "The time is coming," declares the LORD, "when I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel and with the house of Judah.  32 It will not be like the covenant I made with their forefathers when I took them by the hand to lead them out of Egypt, because they broke my covenant, though I was a husband to them, " declares the LORD.  33 "This is the covenant I will make with the house of Israel after that time," declares the LORD. "I will  put my law in their minds and write it on their hearts.  I will be their God, and they will be my people.  34 No longer will a man teach his neighbor, or a man his brother, saying, `Know the LORD,' because  they will all know me, from the least of them to the greatest," declares the LORD.  "For I will forgive their wickedness and will remember their sins no more."

5. Micah 4

1 In the last days the mountain of the LORD's temple will be established as chief among the mountains;  it will be raised above the hills, and peoples will stream to it.  2 Many nations will come and say, "Come, let us go up to the mountain of the LORD, to the house of  the God of Jacob.  He will teach us his ways, so that we may walk in his paths." The law will go out  from Zion, the word of the LORD from Jerusalem.  3 He will judge between many peoples and will settle disputes for strong nations far and wide.  They will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks. Nation will not take up sword against nation, nor will they train for war anymore.  4 Every man will sit under his own vine and under his own fig tree, and no one will make them afraid, for the LORD Almighty has spoken.  5 All the nations may walk in the name of their gods; we will walk in the name of the LORD our God for ever and ever.  6 "In that day," declares the LORD, "I will gather the lame; I will assemble the exiles and those I have brought to grief.  7 I will make the lame a remnant, those driven away a strong nation. The LORD will rule over them in Mount Zion from that day and forever.  8 As for you, O watchtower of the flock, O stronghold [1] of the Daughter of Zion, the former dominion will be restored to you; kingship will come to the Daughter of Jerusalem."  9 Why do you now cry aloud-- have you no king? Has your counselor perished, that pain seizes you like that of a woman in labor?  10 Writhe in agony, O Daughter of Zion, like a woman in labor, for now you must leave the city to camp in the open field.  You will go to Babylon; there you will be rescued. There the LORD will redeem you out of the hand of your enemies.  11 But now many nations are gathered against you. They say, "Let her be defiled, let our eyes gloat over  Zion!"  12 But they do not know the thoughts of the LORD; they do not understand his plan, he who gathers  them like sheaves to the threshing floor.  13 "Rise and thresh, O Daughter of Zion, for I will give you horns of iron; I will give you hoofs of bronze and you will break to pieces many nations." You will devote their ill-gotten gains to the LORD, their wealth to the Lord of all the earth.

6. Ezekiel 36:22-32

22 "Therefore say to the house of Israel, 'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: It is not for your sake, O house of Israel, that I am going to do these things, but for the sake of my holy name, which you  have profaned among the nations where you have gone. 23 I will show the holiness of my great name, which has been profaned among the nations, the name you have profaned among them. Then the nations will know that I am the LORD, declares the Sovereign LORD, when I show myself holy through you before their eyes.  24 "`For I will take you out of the nations; I will gather you from all the countries and bring you back into your own land.  25 I will sprinkle clean water on you, and you will be clean; I will cleanse you from all your impurities and  from all your idols.  26 I will give you a new heart and put a new spirit in you; I will remove from you your heart of stone and  give you a heart of flesh.  27 And I will put my Spirit in you and move you to follow my decrees and be careful to keep my laws.   28 You will live in the land I gave your forefathers; you will be my people, and I will be your God.  29 I will save you from all your uncleanness. I will call for the grain and make it plentiful and will not bring  famine upon you.  30 I will increase the fruit of the trees and the crops of the field, so that you will no longer suffer disgrace among the nations because of famine.  31 Then you will remember your evil ways and wicked deeds, and you will loathe yourselves for your sins and detestable practices.  32 I want you to know that I am not doing this for your sake, declares the Sovereign LORD.  Be  ashamed and disgraced for your conduct, O house of Israel!
